Sometimes when I start typing an email address it
automatically fills it in but this email address is not
in my Contacts. Where does it keep those addresses and
why does it happen on some addresses and not others.
I am running Outlook 10.2627.2625 on XP Pro

They are in your autocompletion cache (*.NK2 file). Remove individual
addresses from the autocompletion cache by highlighting the entry when
presented in the suggested names list (use your arrow key to migrate to the
entry) and then hitting your Delete key before you tab out of the field. To
clear the entire cache, follow the instructions here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;Q287623

Thanks for that but what is the criteria to get a name
into the cache? Do email addresses I receive
automatically go in or only those I reply or send to?

Interested in this as well. My outlook used to offer
names as I typed, now suggests only the ones I use during
the current session. It doesn't remember from before, ie
yesterday. I have the checkbox filled so it will
automatically suggest. Names are in my address book as
well. None are marked private. Why doesn't it suggest
anymore? Very annoying! Julianne

Do you mean a new profile on my e-mail accounts?
Also, another curiosity... Since I posted this message
last night, I have received e-mails from questionable
sources:
Microsoft Corporation Technical Support
[[email protected]]; MS Corporation
Customer Assistance [[email protected]];
Network Message Storage System
[[email protected]]; Undeliverable message to
(e-mail address removed)
Do you have any idea what these are??
THanks, Julianne

Here are instructions on how to create a new Outlook Profile:
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q287/0/72.asp

Those messages simply mean that your email address was harvested from the
group and is being spoofed by someone sending the Swen virus. Here is the
information Microsoft has provided about the problem:
Due to a recent increase in spam sent to posters in newsgroups, Microsoft
advises that newsgroup participants should consider avoiding posting to
newsgroups using their real email address. Microsoft is also committed to
continuing to address the issue of spam from a technological perspective.

To help avoid receiving unwanted messages (spam) in your regular e-mail
account, you may not want to include your regular e-mail address when you
post a question or reply to a post in a discussion group. Instead you may
want to do one of the following:

* Use a modified e-mail address: Use a different version of your e-mail
address that others will understand, but that spam tools can't automatically
pick up. For example, if your actual e-mail address is
"(e-mail address removed)", consider using a modified e-mail address such as:
"emailnameaccount.com.invalid",
emailname@REMOVE_CAPS_AND_INVALIDaccount.com.invalid, or
(e-mail address removed)_SPAM. In this case, the spam tools will send mail
to an invalid e-mail address, and others will know to exclude the
"(removethis)" when they send you e-mail. When you post a question or reply
to a discussion group, just enter your modified e-mail address in the
appropriate box.

* Use a secondary e-mail account: Set up or use an e-mail account, such as a
Hotmail account, that is separate from your primary account for posting to
discussion groups. When you post a question or reply to a discussion group,
use your Hotmail account as your e-mail address.

If you have feedback or questions about this, please post a reply in the
newsgroup, or contact us at
http://register.microsoft.com/contactus30/contactus.asp?domain=communities
