Has anyone ever come across a problem with the Autoexec.nt file being deleted
on boot up? I'm working on a Windows 2000 sp4 system that has a shortcut to
a 16-bit application on our server. When they try to run the application, a
message is displayed that C:\Winnt\System32\autoexec.nt is not suitable for
running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to
terminate or 'Ignore'. I searched on this site earlier and saw a post that
on XP someone found a program called WINDUPDATE.EXE which was deleting the
autoexec.nt file on boot up. I did not find this file or a Windupdate folder
under C:\Program Files on the system anywhere. I've run Spybot, Ad-aware,
Stinger, checked the registry, cleaned up temp & internet temp files. Is
this caused by a virus? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please advise
if more information is needed.
