How can I stop Outlook from deleting AutoComplete names when I receive an
undeliverable from the user?

Using outlook 2003 sp2, and the only addon is a rightfax which is used for
faxing from outlook which we dont use.

Trying doing a test i just typed in (e-mail address removed) then
hit ctrl+k to add it to autosuggest. Then after you send it quickly open a
new email message before undeliveralbe comes back and type kl and you will
notice the autosuggest. After you receive the undeliverable try the same
thing again and it will not autosuggest that email again.

If Outlook DID do this, it is exactly what I would want Outlook to do. Not
sure why you would want to override such a feature. I'm going to request it.

I would like to override this when we receive an undeliverable because the
message was too large to deliver. Further testing reveled that the
autosuggest only gets removed after physically opening the undeliverable
message or deleting the undeliverable message.

Also I have removed all custom forms, and addons.

Any help would be appreciated.

Wait a minute. That's not the same thing all. In your post and using your
example you are talking about an NDR, not an undelivered message.
Clarify what you mean.

administrator subject is Undeliverable:Message Subject

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

Subject: FW: Alert Notification
Sent: 10/22/2007 10:49 PM

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

(e-mail address removed) on 10/22/2007 10:49 PM
This message is larger than the current system limit or the
recipient's mailbox is full. Create a shorter message body or remove
attachments and try sending it again.
<e-mail.domain.local #5.2.3 smtp;450 5.2.3 Msg Size greater than
allowed by Remote Host>

Not at all what you first posted. A message from the system administrator is
completely different than an NDR. An NDR is what you described and provided
the steps to repro. A message that generates an NDR will create a permanent
entry in the autocompletion cache. A message that cannot be sent from
Outlook at all, which is second tune you tried to sing will not. Behavior as
designed.

My first original message did say undeliverable and the message is delivered
from the system administrator, NDR's always come from the system
administrator.

I think in the last part of the message you are saying that we will have to
enter the address again and hit ctrl+k to enter it back in the autosuggest,
and there is no registry key around this?

completely different than an NDR. An NDR is what you described and provided
the steps to repro. A message that generates an NDR will create a permanent

No. The example you gave produces an NDR from the mail server that rejected
it (in your example, hotmail), not from Outlook. Once a message's address is
resolved, a permanent entry is made in the NK2 file. Manually resolving an
address will also place it in the NK2 file, even if you do not send the
message. End users have no control over how autocompletion functions, even
via the registry.
