autocomplete & passwords

When I upgrade my HP Pavilion from XP Home to XP Pro it was a less than slam
dunk. And just when I thought I had everything tweaked back to where it was
suppose to be I noticed one of those "little" things. The inline
autocomplete flat doesn't work and yes, I've checked the advanced IE options
and the autocomplete is turned on there. And there is a little more to this
situation, like it is suppose to, IE regularly offers to save user names and
passwords and such, but never does. My thinking here is that I've got a
registry key problem. That somewhere in the bowels of that bottomless pit
known as the registry that some little something is fouled and needs to have
a stake driven through it.

But your truly is absolutely clueless as to where to look. I have a second
XP Pro drive (evaluation copy for a class) and it seems be ever so happy to
keep the autocomplete and so forth. I did a little nosing around in
Regedt32 but decided this was deeper water than I should be playing in. So
if there is a registry key slayer out there who might be able to point me in
the right direction, I'd appreciate the assist.
