Most of the time- but not all, when I open an excel file
is doesn't reclalculate. When I look in the options it is
set to manual. I change it back to auto and the next day
it is on manual again. Any ideas why it reverts to manual?

Hi Mike!

This could be changed back to manual by your Personal workbook which
opens when Excel opens:

Window > Unhide
Select PERSONAL.XLS
Tools > Options > Calculate
Set to Automatic
OK
Save
Window > Hide

The calculation status is taken from the first file you open. If Norman's
suggestion doesn't fix it, are you perhaps opening a particular file every day
that is set to manual - perhaps a timesheet or a to do list. Open them each,
set to automatic, save and close.
