Hi,

I have Outlook 2003/Exchange2003, and I try to set up my autoarchive, andI
found the following: if I set up at Tools/Options/Other/AutoArchive/Clean
out items more than 1 months, than it is working. It moves everything what
is older than one month to the Archive folder.
However if I increase the timespan to anything bigger han one month, it is
not doing anything,
But I want to archive only the one year old stuff!
What am I doing wrong? Where should I specify longer date?

Thanks:

Peter

Check the Last Modified date on the items that aren't being archived as you
think they should. That's the date Outlook uses to determine whether or not
an item is ready to be AutoArchived, and a simple action such as moving the
item to another folder can change the Last Modified date. More information
and a list of actions that change the Last Modified date can be found here:

I am having the same problem as the first person in this
thread. We are using 2002 on peer to peer. Outlook
claims to be autoarchiving but there is nothing in the
file. I have never manually archived so the modification
date is not an issue here. I will try setting to 1 month
clean as someone has suggested. The default for ours was
14 days. All help appreciated.

Just because you have never manually archived does not mean you don't
have to deal with the modification date. That is what Outlook uses to
determine what should be AutoArchived regardless of whether you have ever
manually archived anything. Use the Field Chooser and add the Modified
Date column to your view of the messages. Check the date. If it is not
older than your archive settings dictate then the messages won't go.

Also check to make sure you don't have different settings for the
individual folder you are wanting to AutoArchive. Some people set them
for an individual folder then forget about it and later try to change the
default settings, forgetting that that doesn't change the individual
folder's settings.

Finally, I have discovered that, if the Modified Date shows up as 'None'
then AutoArchive ignores those items. You will have to just manually move
those particular items into your archive .PST file. The other items with
modification dates should eventually archive off when their modification
date reaches the threshold.
