On trying too use the auto update; for update no.819696 (
the e-mail protection update) I've tried several times to
add it to my system but find not only does it not add it
too my XP software but it requests that I re-add the
update; when I next boot up my pc???
Thanks for any help, Mark F.

This sort of thing has happened with previous updates, too. Typically
(though not always) it *does* install (unless you get a specific error), but
the marker for this doesn't set, so it keeps thinking you still need to do
it.

Also, there's an option in Windows Update, on the left: "Personalize
Windows Update" that will allow you to keep the flakey install from showing
up on the "needed" list. It only works once you've done Scan for Updates.

Also, consider running a query in the http://www.microsoft.com/technet
website to see whether there are any references to troubles installing it.

Good luck,
