I have a workbook that inserts a weird set of characters every time I save
and re-open. The character set is as follows: [pn":xxxxxxxxxxxxx).

What have I done to deserve this annoyance, and how do I get rid of it.

Thank you.

Any chance you have a misbehaving macro.

Get to the VBE (alt-F11) and expand all the objects for that workbook's project.

Look under thisworkbook, all the sheets and in the general modules, too.

In fact, you may want to try opening the workbook with macros disabled to see if
it still occurs.

And a nutty guess: If you're using xl2002 or higher, do you have speech
recognition enabled? Maybe it's picking up moans and groans from the user
<vbg>.

Dave/John

Received a file t'other day from Ron Martell(Windows MVP) with same problem
from one of his clients.

Went all over it and could find nothing.

I deleted it, saved and re-opened and it never came back. Ron had same
experience, but his client's Excel keeps adding the [pn":xxxxxxxxxxxxx) back
in upon opening after deleting/saving.

Curious. I have emailed Ron again to see if anything has been resolved.
