How do I turn off the auto type in windows xp? I am not sure what it is
called, but when you start to type a search or a web site in the address
section windows wants to remember what and where you have been before. I
wish to disable or at least clear this. Thank you
Chris

Go to Internet options (in Control Panel or from Tools menu in IE )

1.General tab
Click "Clear history"

2.Advanced tab
Uncheck "Use inline Autocomplete"
Select "Do not search from the address bar"

2. Content tab
Autocomplete button > Uncheck "Web addresses"
