That would depend upon which version of Office you are using and what you mean
by "Auto Save".

Prior to XL2002(10) there was an AUTOSAVE.XLA add-in which allowed incremental
backups at user-determined times. Word had the "autorecovery" feature as well
as "auto save".

XL2002 and 2003 have the "Autorecovery" feature. This saves backups at
user-determined intervals, but deletes the backups if the File saves properly.
Used only to recover crashed files.

If you wish a true "Auto Save" you can use the AUTOSAVE.XLA from an earlier
version.

If by "auto Save" you mean create a backup file each time you save, you would
do this via File>Save As>Tools>Options>General "always create a backup".

Read incremental "Saves" rather than incremental "backups". The saves
overwrite the previous file.

Where would I find the add-in AUTOSAVE.XLA from the old versions of Excel? I am on Excel 2003 now.

To download the 97 version go here.....

In addition to the above......Jan Karel Pieterse has an addin called AutoSafe

It doesn't overwrite the existing workbook when it saves. It saves to a user
selectable folder. And when it's done, it either deletes these backups (or
puts them in the recycle bin). And the user can always restore the backups
from the recycle bin.

(look for AutoSafe.zip)
