In Outlook 2000 (doesn't have "Out of Office" feature) I'm stuck with an
unwanted auto-reply to all senders, and I can't figure out how to change the
setting. ("None" would be nice enough!) How? Someone?

Connected to Exchange? If not; see if you have a rule configured that
replies to all mails (Tools-> Wizard Rules...)
If you are connected to Exchange have your mail administrator disable the
rule by using the mdbvu32.exe Exchange Resource Kit tool.

Tips of the month:
-What do the Outlook Icons Mean?
-Create an Office 2003 CD slipstreamed with Service Pack 1

Yes, Outlook 2000 does have this feature.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to the
(insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal account
will be deleted without reading.

I THINK NOT. THE CLOSEST I CAN COME TO AGREEING THAT THERE is any "Out of
Office" feature IN OUTLOOK 2000, is the "Rules Wizrd" under Tools. Even if
this is it, I still can't locate a way to alter this auto-reply I'm stuck
with.

I'm clueless what you may mean by Exchange or mail administrator. I'm a
single user in my home. And I do have four self-created rules in the Rules
Wizard under Tools, but nothing about auto-replies to senders.

If you are a home user and don't have any rules that automatically reply to
your senders, then your Outlook isn't doing it. How could it? What
evidence do you have that your senders are receiving an autoreply from you?
Can you supply an example?

Alright, that clarifies it. If you don't have any reply rules configured;
what does the reply say?

It's there only when you connect to Exchange so Milly is still correct; you
left out information about your setup

I'm trying not to be obstinate or simply stupid here, but how does knowing
that I left out information about my setup give me a clue what to do next?
Okay, so I don't have Exchange. Now what? Do I need a "work around" now?
All I want to do is remove my existing auto-reply.
Thanks!

I do remember generating the wording, and I do receive the auto-reply when I
e-mail myself something from my other e-mail client. So the auto-reply was
created by me and is active; from time to time my acquaintances scold me for
it. I'm still so green to the usage of discussion group postings that I don't
know the method to privately e-mail you; for the moment here I'll decline to
tell you to experience my auto-replay by e-mailing me at my address. (Ya
don't posta reveal your address in a public forum, right?)

If you'd be kind enough to take the trouble, I addressed essentially the same
question a minute or two ago in response to Brian Tillman. Please have a
look. I'm so new to proper Discussion Group usage, I'm still stumbling. (I
only just changed my postings from "Donnyork" to "Only Ork" for instance.)
Thanks much.

The email address with which my posts are tagged is replyable if you want to
contact me that way.

However, if I were you, I'd export my rules with the Rules wizard and then
restart Outlook with no rules at all using the /cleanrules command line
switch (if Outlook 2000 supports that. Your Help should be able to tell
you. Search for "switch"). If it doesn't support it, try the /safe switch.
