auto numbering in styles using outline, restarting each use at 1

I have using the auto numbering in a styles feature to create auto numbering
in a specification. Each level starts number at 1, however, each time I
apply the section, the number continues from the previous section. The only
way I have been able to get the number to restart at 1 is by manually going
into the "bullets & numbering" and selecting the restart numbering key every
time I use each level. Is there no way to include this automatically so that
when you use the level style it will also renumber from 1 (or a set number),
thus avoiding the additional step.

Hi Anthony,

What sort of breaks are you putting in your document? If it is a page break
that might be why you are having trouble. Try inserting a section break
instead then go into headers and footers and click on the Link to Previous
button to break the connection between sections.

Thank you very much, it was quite helpful. AB
