Auto loading a file

For some reason if I click on the E icon of an excel file, Excel loads but
doesn't load the file. I can only load the file by opening excel and using
the 'File' 'open' command. Can anyone tell me what has happened?

Try tools>options>general and uncheck ignore other applications
