Auto Increment issue

Access 2007 I have a Auto Number field Incremented Indexed as PK. Data
currently goes up to the number 335. Problem it is now wanting to assign
61035620 as the next numebr in line for auto incrementing. I don't see any
strange data in the field in any records.

Is there any reason why Access would do this? It began right after a
compact, so not sure if it's related or not.

Is there a way to reset the numbering system on this PK Auto Increment
field? Perhaps a change query or something?
