Auto-format phone fields

In Outlook 2002 SP3, I simply want to type in a 9 digit telephone number, and
after hitting enter, have it format to the form (XXX) XXX-XXXX. I had no
problem with this Outlook 2000.
 
Outlook will always do this whenever you have set your dialing location
correctly. That's an operating system setting, not an Outlook setting, by
the way.
 
Control Panel > Phone and modem options... > Dialing Rules, edit your
location and replace the "1" with your area code.
