I did a windows register cleaner.Nothing opens automaticly like before and
everything is a LNK file. The computer wants you to pick a program to open
other programs. Then it is not supported. Someone told me the auto files have
been moved. Where? Why?

In the first place, Windows XP does not need a registry cleaner. In the
second place, there is no such thing as "auto files".

When you are prompted to select a program to open a file, you'll have to
choose the correct program from the list presented or use the 'Browse'
button to select the correct executable. If that doesn't work, you are
up the creek, my friend.

Does your "register cleaner" have a backup and restore function? If so,
I suggest your restore the changes you made.

Otherwise: There's no way to know in advance if System Restore will help
in this situation, but you can try that. (You can always reverse the
restore if you don't like the results.) Or you could reinstall the
program you need to open a given file - that might allow you to select
that program from the list the next time you are prompted to select a
program.

My friend, you have presented yet another example of why a registry
cleaner should not be used. Good luck.

Ugh! Almost always a terrible idea. I strongly recommend *against* the
routine use of registry cleaners. Routine
cleaning of the registry isn't needed and is dangerous. Leave the registry
alone and don't use any registry cleaner.
Despite what many people think, and what vendors of registry cleaning
software try to convince you of, having unused registry entries doesn't
really hurt you.

The risk of a serious problem caused by a registry cleaner erroneously
removing an entry you need is far greater than any potential benefit it may
have.

What do you mean by "auto files"?
