Hi All,

I have an "Acer" TravelMate laptop with Windows XP Home Edition. On start
up Windows way too often does an automatice disc check. Sometimes it does it
in consecative startups. I am often on batter power when it does this and I
miss the 8 second cancel time. As the computer is a 2.8GHz and 15" screen, I
only have 45 minutes battery run time. I do not want to give up 5 - 8 minute
check time. How can I disable the auto check?

Thanks bunches and have a good day.

Don't disable Autocheck - the PC is telling you some useful
information that the disk drive has inconsistencies on it. Left
unresolved, it could result in significant data loss. You likely
need to run a 5-Phase comprehensive Chkdsk to allow the
PC to fix the disk issues.
1.) Click Start, Run (type) Cmd [Enter]
2.) Click in the Command Prompt window and from the
Chkdsk C: /R [Enter]
3.) System will respond with message to perform at next
boot - type Y & reboot PC.
Forget the battery life aspect and keep your system healthy.
