Auto calculation

I have a user in the office who's setting for "automatic calculations" keeps changing to "manual". It happens occaisionaly, maybe 2 or 3 times a week. Any one heard of this, and if so, what do I do to correct it.
Running Office 2000 sp3 on an XP Pro machine with sp1.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Whenever you open Excel, it takes its setting from the first file you open - If the file
is manual, then your settings become manual and stay that way till you close and reopen
Excel and open another file - Unless you change it manually of course.
