Hi Sandy
Office has no built-in archive functionality for Word documents. There's a
good reason for this.
In Outlook, hundreds of messages are saved in one big file. When Outlook
archives old messages, it creates one new archive file, and puts the old
messages into that old file. Outlook can control the name of this archive
file.
However, Word documents, Excel workbooks, PowerPoint presentations etc are
all separate files. You might have two different documents both called
"Budget.doc", but stored in two different folders. So a system couldn't
archive files by just putting them into one big folder, because you couldn't
have several files with the same name in one folder. So an archiving system
would have to replicate the entire folder structure each time it archived
your files. That would make it very difficult to find your old archived
files.
There are probably third-party products designed to do this specifically, or
you could use one of the many products that are designed to synchronize
files between one machine and another. Some of those allow you to select
files to be copied by date.
Hope this helps.
