Audio progs with normalization?

Hi all

Can anyone recommend an audio program that will normalize the playback
of the tracks to a set volume. I am sick of having to adjust the
volume control between variuos tracks. (Suitable for the major file
types).

Mediamonkey is certainly on of the best.

Here is one of the many features : "Correct volume levels automatically
(using Replay Gain and MP3 Gain technology) so that you no longer have
to adjust the volume when playing your audio files."

Hi John,

I asked this question several weeks ago and a friendly soul here gave
me two recommendations that I want to give to you now.

I have heard that Audacity from http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ does
what you want, although I have never used Audacity for that purpose
yet.

I use MP3Gain from http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/ because it can
normalize entire folders full of MP3's enmasse.

I'm sure there are other great freeware products out there, but I use
MP3Gain for normalization.

1. There are numerous plugins for Winamp to do that. Compressor & Wider
is a nice one.

2. If you want a stand alone player then 1by1. Has "Compressor & Wider"
built in (same author). Just does MP3 and similar.

Foobar2000 will do this. When you load the files in Foo, just
highlight all the files and right click and go to replaygain in the
context menu and it normalizes everything.

Agreed - mp3gain is excellent, I only found out about this year, it's easy
and it works well.
