Just lately my cd player will only play cd music. In other words, when I pop
in a cd that auto plays I get the expected sound through the use of my
windows media player. But if I try to open a mp3 or wmv, for example, my
windows media player will open and begin to play but no sound can be heard.
Even if I try opening the player first then the file through the player
still no go. I'm baffled. Thanks in advance.

As this newsgroup deals with networking issues, you should consider posting
to a newsgroup that supports Media Player, to wit:

microsoft.public.windowsmedia.player
microsoft.public.multimedia.windows.mediaplayer
