audio driver won't enable

I have Realtek High Definition Audio Driver on my new laptop. It is installed
and in one section showing that it is enabled properly however in System -
Device Manager it has a red cross thru it and when I try to enable it I get a
message stating that it can't be enabled. How do I enable the audio driver as
I have no sound at all. I have tried all tips and methods suggested and I'm
not sure how to tell if I have a conflict with another audio driver.

Integrated audio devices, such as are found in laptops, are often
dependent upon the installation and proper functioning of the
motherboard's chipset's drivers, in addition to the audio drivers. You
might try reinstalling the chipset drivers. Unless you manually forced
the installation of another audio driver, you're not likely to have such
a conflict.
