I just reformatted my hard drive with windows xp and my
audio device is not installed. My sound card is hooked up
and I downloaded the most recent driver but I don't know
how to get it working.

Remove it in Device Manger and upon a reboot Windows will install the
software and drivers. You might want to have the driver handy in case you
are asked to locate it.

Did the most recent WinXP driver install correctly? If it's not a .exe
file then you may have to point XP in
the right direction. Rt click MyComputer>select Prop>Hardware>Device
Manager>Sound, Video and Game Controllers expand and look for audio devices
with yellow marks next to them or it. Right Click and select Update
drivers>Install from a List or Specific Location>Browse to the Folder the
driver is in and
select it.
