I'm installing an Audigy 2 Platinum soundcard in an
emachine (etower)PC. I'm instructed to remove the old
soundboard before installing the new Audigy. On the PC,
the sound board is integrated into the motherboard. How
do I do dat?

Disable it via the BIOS. Usually pressing the Delete key during bootup will
allow access to the BIOS. Disable the onboard audio then save & exit. If
that option isn't available, disable it using the Device Manager.

Well, obviously you can't remove the onboard sound. You have to go into
the BIOS and disable it.

You can't remove the old soundcard, but you MAY be able to disable it in the
BIOS (on many systems you cannot do this). If you can't disable it in the
BIOS, disable it in device manager from within Windows. You may then have
to go into sound properties in Control Panel and switch the default devices
from the old sound to the new.
