Hello,

Unfortunately I am still not able to find a contact at Microsoft for
reporting (non-security-related) bugs directly, thus I am posting here.

There is an outstanding issue in SP2 regarding drag & drop functionality:

Situation: When dragging a file from the desktop to an OLE-enabled program
(mIRC to be precise, but not limited to), sometimes, after left-button
release the allocated GDI resource for the file icon remains permanently on
the screen. Apparently, drag-n-drop does not release the GDI resource and
maybe there are leaks involved too, but I cannot possibly know.

Nothing short of ending the explorer.exe process (or respectively logging
out) remedies the situation. The overlay is present even after issuing a
WINKEY+D, which normally cleans up any on-screen artifacts.

The issue is evident @ http://www.ivanchev.org/bug1.jpg

I am contactable at: (e-mail address removed)

Thank you.

Youre trying to contact microsoft at the wrong area, for SP2 related issues,
go to support at microsoft,you'll find SP2 help/support and/or issues.You
can also go to any page at thier site, bottom of page, select "contact us".

FYI, there is no bug report system for SP2 yet, and all "contact us"
services, including bug reporting, are billable. If you want to report your
problem, you have to pay.

Uh... I have to pay to report bugs? What is this, some kind of joke? I am NOT
looking for support, I am trying to help make Windows better... Woa... heck
of a feedback policy really. The next overflow I find gets directly on
Bugtraq, that is for sure...

Thanks for the link Ricky, I shall check it out.
