Hello,
Unfortunately I am still not able to find a contact at Microsoft for
reporting (non-security-related) bugs directly, thus I am posting here.
There is an outstanding issue in SP2 regarding drag & drop functionality:
Situation: When dragging a file from the desktop to an OLE-enabled program
(mIRC to be precise, but not limited to), sometimes, after left-button
release the allocated GDI resource for the file icon remains permanently on
the screen. Apparently, drag-n-drop does not release the GDI resource and
maybe there are leaks involved too, but I cannot possibly know.
Nothing short of ending the explorer.exe process (or respectively logging
out) remedies the situation. The overlay is present even after issuing a
WINKEY+D, which normally cleans up any on-screen artifacts.
The issue is evident @ http://www.ivanchev.org/bug1.jpg
I am contactable at: (e-mail address removed)
Thank you.
