Sounds like you're getting there. I use newsreader so I see the new
messages, I don't look for threads, unless I have a watch on that thread. I
have replied in the original thread.

Hi Rock,
Day before yesterday while searching for my post manually(duh) I read
another post where you asked another poster to return to his original post
rather than to post the same question a second time and you told him to go
to a "Google?" URL and find his original post.
And when I tried to return to that post so I could get that URL I could'nt
find it, could you please repost it here so I can capture it?
Thanks as always, you guys are Superman without tights and a cape.....LOL

Just got to Google, www.google.com, click on more, then groups, then
advanced search. Then copy that link somewhere or save it in your
favorites.

Hi, Adrian. Like Rock (and most other regulars) I don't ever use the web
interface. I use a real newsreader. If you can, I strongly suggest you
set up a newsreader instead of using the dreadful web interface. I
understand that you can't if you are in a controlled work environment,
but if you can do this you'll be much happier and get far more out of
this resource. It is very easy to do. Here's my standard cut/paste
about it:

Since you are using the web interface, you may not realize that this is
really a newsgroup. You will get far more out of this resource if you
learn to use a newsreader. There are many good newsreaders for Windows,
but you can use Outlook Express since you already have it. Here are
some links to information about newsgroups:

Good Morning Guys,
As usual, you allways come through.
I really feel as I've made two great "Intelligent" friends and I really
admire your knowledge and you've been so unselfishingly sharing with it.
I don't come here much, but this time I've made great friends and really
gleaned some "smarts".....I can't thank you guys enough.
Hope ya'll have a great weekend
Adrian

BTW Rock, that fix did not repair the task bar color but it's soooooooooooo
minor, I can live with it. Thanks anyway.

You're more than welcome but sorry the last didn't help. For the display
problem check the monitor's controls for a brightness adjustment. If that
doesn't work you could try uninstalling the video card drivers and
reinstalling with the latest version. Get the drivers from the device
manufacturer's web site if it's a retail card, from the computer OEM's site
if it's a large OEM like Dell or HP or from the motherboard manufacturer's
site if it's onboard video.

For the taskbar issue the only other thing I can suggest, and it's just a
guess, is to try another edit on Kelly's site:

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
Line 164: Restore Taskbar to Default Functionality

If these last suggestions don't work repost your two current issues in a new
thread. Say that you removed malware, and now these are the two residual
problems left. Maybe some fresh eyes or a fresh look will help.

Lastly, remember to reply in the original thread; now the context of the
problem is lost. But since we're at the end of this let's finish it off
here.
