Attempting to install HP 3 in 1...getting error 1311 message

I keep getting an error message..1311...missing
D:\setup.data.cab

I do not know what this means. I took the cd back to
Staples and they had no problem installing it on a
computer loaded with XP at the store.

Help....I am so frustrated!

Hi Charlotte,

First, what is "D"?

If it's your CD drive, you may simply need a lens cleaning, and commercial
CD lens cleaning disk will do.

It is a problem with microsoft installer which can not
read from the cd rom. I do not know how to fix it. It
happens to me with all cd roms, and clean it does not fix
it.

It is time to take your computer to a good local computer repair shop
(not a CompUSA or BestBuy store) and have them put it right. They will
be able to diagnose whether the problem is software or hardware and fix
it for you and you won't be frustrated any more.
