Just about every e-mail I receive has an attachment icon, regardless of
weather an attachment existed or not, I had the same problem a while back
after I reformated XP,back then I found a solution which involved changing
settings for oulook express, now I'm hoping some one can help me again. Thank
you very much.

First off, if you haven't done so already, you might want to
post your question to an Outlook Express newsgroup.

As for your question, if you have Outlook Express set to read
all messages in plain text and someone sends you a message in
HTML, the HTML formatting will be stripped out and you will see
a paper clip next to the message in your Inbox. In OE, click on
the Tools menu at the top of the window. Select Options from
the menu. In Options, click on the Read tab. Check to see if
you have a check mark next to "Read all messages in plain
text".

Good luck

If you are running ZoneAlarm and have its e-mail checking turned on,
it will do that also.

AVG email Scanner for OE does that too. The "Virus Free" Certification
is seen as an attachment.
