Attachments won't open

Some of my attachments won't open. Message is - This file does not have a
program assocaited with it, etc. I have gone into the display folder and
associated attachments - Word, yet when it opens there is nothing on the
page. However, it does indicate that I have 2,245 kb in the file. I have
also cleaned out the registry, etc. Can anyone solve this riddle. Thank you.

can you save the file to the local harddisk and open it from there ?
 
I do save it to a temp file on the hard drive. When I attempt to open it
there, that's when I receive a Word page that is blank. (By the way, I
misspoke in my original message. I meant that I opened the Folder Options
and checked the Word association. Nevertheless, it doesn't open those EML
files.

What do you mean by you have cleaned out the registry? I strongly recommend
you avoid the use of a registry cleaner. They can cause more harm than
good. Unused entries in the registry do not, in general, cause a problem
but removing the wrong entry can. The only way to use a registry cleaner is
for advice on what to remove, but don't let it clean things automatically.
Research the suggestions and remove only those items your knowledge and
research reveal a need for. Otherwise forget using it.
 
you need to save the attachment, NOT the message (eml file).
right click on message and SAVE ATTACHMENTS.
