attachments not able to be opened by readers

I have just got a new pc with office 2007. I previously used office 2000 and
created many word and excel documents with it. I have received word from
several people that when I send one of my documents created with office 2000
as an attachment using outlook 2007 they are unable to open the attachment.

Do you know of any incompatibilities or how I might resolve this issue?

I do not know what e-mail system these users are using. I think that one
person is using aol. Might aol have a problem?

are you using RTF format when you send emails? Are the recipients getting an
attachment with the same name and extension you sent?

Are you sending your mesage in Plain Text or HTML format?
