Hello,
We are running into an odd issue with some Crystal
Reports .rpt files in WinXP. When we attempt to open them
from the Windows hierarchy, we are prompted to select the
application - Crystal Offline Viewer - each time,
regardless of whether we check the box for "always use
the selected program to open..." or make certain the file
associations are correct under My Computer. The files
then open, but of course our users complain this is a
hassle since they did not have to do this with the same
files in Win2000.
What is interesting is that when the .rpt files are sent
as a mail attachment in Outlook 2003 under XP, you double-
click the file and it opens right up with no prompt for
the application to be used.
So I suppose my question (for those of you who stayed
awake long enough to read this far) is: How is the
handling of files/file associations different between
Outlook and XP? If we can start to grasp at the
differences that may lead us to the solution.
Thanks for your time and help!
