Change what?
To add an attachment, just Create your message,
and click on the paperclip icon, or click on Insert - File Attachment
and go find your file to attach.

New to Vista. How do I change settings to attach to an e-mail?

Attachments to mail is done as it always has been done. Either select the
attachment (paper) clip icon and browse for the file you want to attach, or
drag and drop the file onto the composition window.

I've done just that, nut I recieve an error message that states the host
could not be found?

I've dont that, but I get an error message that states the host cannot be
found, also I'm able to attach a picture but not a document?

You did what? I mentioned two things. And...do you get the error message
when you make the attachment or when you try to send it?
BobF.

Oh...I trust you can send other e-mail ok (without attachments) and you are
using an e-mail provider that allows attachments. Most do these days. But
there might be a couple around that do not. If you are paying for the
service you most assuredly are allowed. So, In this case I'd shut down you
virus checking, and if that doesn't work, completely remove the application
and try again. BTW, what ends up in you sent mail? Does it look like the
attachment is there?
BobF.

I've completely remove my anit virus protection and still not able to attach
the document. Still able to attach a picture, don't understand?

Ok...let's back up a second. What e-mail are we talking about? WM, WLM,
OE, What? Who is your mail provider. What is the exact error message and
when does it occur. The message that you can not attach. Please verify
that no other program has it open. You say you can send pictures? What is
the filename of the file you are trying to send and in what folder is it
found? If you move it out of the folder that it is in and onto the C:
Drive, can you then send it ok?

1. Can you send an email without an attachment?

2. Exactly what email program are you asking about?

3. What is the exact, complete error message?

4. How big is the attachment?

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
Outlook Express and should be uninstalled. The latest version of Trend's
anti-virus seems to be causing problems too.

Yes, I think you're right, I think that I have to reset the server names, but
I don't know how to do that. Her is the exact error message-Host could not be
found
Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly.
Subject' Emailing:Scan 0001; Account 'Yahoo' Server:'yahoo', Protocol: SMTP,
Port:25, Secure (SSL): No,Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: OX800CCC0D.
Thank you for your response.

I haven't yet but I will this evening, i'm at work right now, and thank you
very much for helping me out, I'll post later what my results are after
trying what you two have given me to try. Thanks again.

Thank you all for your responses and advise, changing the settings fixed my
problem.
Thank you very much,
Gene

Not to butt in on anyone's question, but I wasn't sure where to ask. I am
having trouble with all my attachments being "zipped". I'[m not
intentionally zipping them, Vista is sending them this way. How do I change
my settings so that this only happens when I want it to?
