used to have a free version called Atlantis Nova, but I can't locate
on the website anymore. Have they discontinued it?

Here's a link (enable javascript on your browser):
http://www.rssol.com/shared/download/exec/atlant10n_en.exe
or
http://www.dirfile.com/siteredirect...sol.com/shared/download/exec/atlant10n_en.exe

I just clicked on that link and was taken there.

Which link, the Atlantis one? If so, what's the url of the free
version's (Atlantis Nova) page on that site?

Oh boy, you're smart! I had not heard of search engines before.
then click on the first search result.

Which takes one to the Atlantis home page, not an Atlantis Nova page.

Yes, I found that too, but it's not mentioned on the Atlantis site, at
least I don't see, which would suggest the free version is
abandonware. BTW, the last Atlantis Nova version is v. 1.0.0.68, which
I have, and not 1.0.0.66.

This is from a post by Susan on June 6th:

They've completely hidden the free version now but they still host it.

Atlantis Nova is PL2006 and it's on the PL2006 CD. . . or you can
download it if you don't have the CD. . .

http://www.pricelesswarehome.org/2006/PL2006TEXT.php#0064-PW

download v 1.0.0.68 (2005-11-17) [ atlant10n_en.exe (767 KB) English]
http://www.atlantiswordprocessor.com/download/atlant10n_en.exe

BTW - don't worry about minor version changes - AFAIK all they change is
their blurbs for the latest payware version. . .

You didn't add the words "freeware download" in your search, did you?
Try the search suggested above again, then you could eat some humble pie.

By entering the above criteria I was taken to
http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q="atlantis nova" freeware download

The top result, Freeware: Atlantis Nova 1.0.0.68 - Download-By.net took me
to
http://www.download-by.net/other/software/10328,atlantis-nova.html
which is a page that provides a description of the freeware version of
Atlantis Nova.

Clicking on the download link on this page took me to
http://www.download-by.net/other/software/10328,atlantis-nova,dl.html

On this page I selected "From Download-By.Net and received a 760kb file
named atlant10n_en . I installed it and found I had the freeware version of
Atlantis Nova.

Well I guess your smartass remark "Oh boy, you're smart!" was correct.

Not so hasty, mentally challenged one. Read again, that is if you have
the cognitive ability, and you'll see that my inquiry was about an
Atlantis Nova page on the Atlantis website followed by the question
whether it has been discontinued (which appears to be the case).

Not at all. My second post to you was in response to your posting:

You will note that you were now concerned that the search parameters I gave
you didn't take you to an Atlantis Nova page. I proved that it did.

Also Sietse Flege's response to you demonstrated that the freeware version
has only been hidden, not necessarily discontinued.

Anyone can find an Atlantis Nova download link. However, no one gave
the url of an (informative) Atlantis Nova page on the Atlantis site,
only a download link, because it's not there. The free version of
Atlantis appears to be abandonware.

On the Atlantis site... no; but there are enough reviews to be found on
the program to give you some idea, try one of these:

http://www.winsite.com/bin/Info?2000000035955

http://www.pt.lu/comnet/desc/atlantis.html (with working dl link)

all found with (and many more):
