I've had a reinstall of my dual boot XP pro system and
havent done anything
different from when I first installed it. But for some
reason my Boot disc on IDE1 now shows up as disk 2 in
windows managment and Disk 0 & 1 are the
drives on the Promise ATA controller. Trouble is
bootmanagers need the first
disk to be the boot disc. How can I get windows to look
at IDE 1 as disk 0 on the disk managment screen.

Windows XP Pro
Gigabyte 8INXP
P4 3.06
2G ram
40 Gig HD on IDE 1
DVD on IDE 2
80 Gig HD on ATA 1
40 Gig on ATA 2

Cheers.
Mark.

Disconnect the unneeded drive(s) and reinstall. Depending on your
configuration, a repair install will also fix it. Reconnect the disconnected
drives after the fix.

XP has a habit of doing what you describe when more than one disk is
installed in a multiboot environment.
