Hello,

I was wondering if this is possible. I don't think setting up rules will
help because if someone's assistant has been granted access to their
manager's inbox, contacts and calendars, how do you make sure that certain
emails (confidential ones) cannot be open and read (including preview pane).
For example, with Lotus Notes emails for my partners can be opened but emails
like paycheck stubs, or other financial related emails would be completely
blank when opened by someone other than that actual person. Does Outlook,
2003 in particular (we currently run XP Pro, but will upgrade) have this
ability?

Thanks in advance.

One strategy would be for the manager to use rules to move confidential information into a subfolder of the Inbox to which the delegate does not have access. Presumably you'd have some precise way of distinguishing those messages from ones the delegate should see.

If you grant access via the Delegation wizard then you have the option
to allow the deleate to see personal items, if you do not tick this then
the delegate does not see the item atall, it simply is not included in
the list for that folder. The only indication they may receive is that
the number of unread items is higher than the number of unread items
that they can see in that folder.
