I've owned this XP computer for several years now and I've always been the
only user on it. All of a sudden, a few days ago, it decided to create an
ASP.NET limited user account. I don't know how this happened or what it's
for. I don't know that I did anything to cause this. What is this account?
How did it get created? Do I need it? May I delete it?

asp.net is the result of a windows update the "dot net framework" this is
normal and will not hurt anything.

Mike,

I'm curious why it didn't do it for several years but now just did it all of
a sudden? Does it need to be there? Can I delete the account?

That account not essential unless you are doing .Net development. You can
delete it or leave it, it makes no difference.

Hi Rock,
The other day I tried to install the lastest drivers for my vid card (ATI)
during the install it said that framework 2.0 is required.I have yet to
install this and the driver update was unstable,I had to do a system
restore.

Yes some 3rd party software requires .Net but the Asp.net account is not
needed for .Net to function.

Rock,

I'm still curious why it just created itself after several years of
operation. What caused it to create?

It was pushed out to you as an update through windows update. Why right now
and not before I don't know.
