Well,
My dominant stupid and forgetful genes have become even more dominant. I
decided to upgrade my HP6736 with a BIOS update, new OS (going to XP Home
from Windows ME). The power supply decided to commit suicide and take the
mother board with it while I was still collecting all of the goodies.
I just bit the bullet and bought a whole new system. Now I"ve decided to
send my recently purchased copy of Windows XP to my daughter in Fl. Only
problem is, the COA is gone. Vanished. Outta here! I stupidly contacted the
reseller where I purchased it and was told, "Lotsa Luck". They have no
obligation for a misplaced COA. They're correct of course. I'm the one who
probably threw it out with some other trash left over from unpacking the new
computer.
Is there any practical way to replace a missing COA? If I send the disc in
to MS they should be able to verify that it is a legitimate disc. Not
registered in their database as installed. Or am I just wasting time?
Apologize to my daughter for my absent mindedness and take my whipping? Does
anyone know MS's policy regarding this sort of thing?
Thanks,
Chuck
