ARP Cache

i try to repair my network connection by left clicking the icon on the
taskbar and selecting 'repair' and i get the message

windows could not finish repairing the problem because the arp cache could
not be cleared.

my 2mb broadband seems to be rather slow recently and this is the first time
that i have seen the message.

what does it mean and how do i rectify it?

got to you system tools and run you disk clean up utility it my be so full
the connect repair cant dump it all i recomed running disk clean up about
every 2 to 3 surfs on the web unless youve downloaded a bunch then do it
after your done

To correct your statement:
ARP cache isn't some file on disk, like your temporary IE file cache.
(Misconception)
It is a structure (table if you like) that is held in main memory during
your session and for obvious reasons is therefor discarded once the machine
is turned off.
So running disk cleanup will be of no consequence at all.
Furthermore, the structure is maintained in real-time so as to not to grow
too big.
Basically, resolved mac-address entries are entered and kept in there for
something like 2 to 10 minutes (dfepending on usage) and get cleaned out if
no longer used/needed.
