Are there limits to the number of removable storage devices?

I have a computer using Windows XP Home Edition (that came
on the computer). I have an "a:" drive (floppy), a "c:"
drive (hard disk), a "d:" drive (CD drive), an "e:" drive
(DVD drive), and a "g:" drive (another hard drive). I
skipped "f" because that is a network drive on another
computer. I have been trying for 3 weeks to install my
digital camera to download my pictures. The instructions
that came with camera say nothing but the Vivitar internet
site says that this camera does not need a driver for
Windows XP - that the camera installs as a "removable
storage device" through its USB connection. Their
instuctions have repeatedly failed to produce results.

I thought I had bypassed the problem by plugging a 6 in 1
USB reader device to the computer. When this device is
attached "My Computer" shows additional removable storage
devices "h:", "i:", and "j:" but nothing beyond that and
low and behold my "Secure Digital" card is in a slot
further along.

Are there limits on the number of "removable storage
devices" that Windows XP can handle or install? Any other
ideas about getting the camera to attach itself as a
removable storage device?

Limits? Not really - you only have 26 drive letters, though.
