In an attempt to reduce the size of my Outlook.pst file, I archived a folder,
and then “closed†it in the Folder List. This however had no affect on the
size of the Outlook.pst file. Should I have “deleted†the archived folder
from the list? If so, how do I re-open it? Thanks.

pst files don't get smaller until you compact them
in outlook, right click on the folder- properties, advanced, compact now-
please note, if it's a large pst file and/or older computer, it could take a
while...

File size won't change until the PST file is compacted. You can do it
manually if you want, but Outlook will compact it itself eventually.
