archiving

outlook 2003
when i archive, the items in my personal folders are archived but the
messages in my inbox remain there. How do I set it to clear the inbox when
archiving?

Be aware that the date archiving uses to determine the eligibility of an
item for archiving is not the received date, but the (usually not shown)
modified date. Also make sure that the properties for Inbox allow
archiving. Each folder has its own setting.
