Hi all,

I've got a problem when archiving in Outlook 98. The
archive file grows like it should, but the original file
stays the same and is not reduced. This is very annoying,
since my original PST file is closing up to 2 Gb, which
causes other problems.

I've tried the Outlook 98 Archive Patch, but it didn't
help.

Anyone who knows what to do?

Roland

You need to compact your .PST file. Right click the root folder, select
Properties, Advanced, Compact Now.

Hi Jocelyn,

Many thanks for the info. It worked wonderfully. I had a
closer look at this problem, and it looks like it accours
if you have Outlook on one computer and the PST file on an
other computer, for instance a server. Otherwise it shoud
compact automatically.

Thanks again.

Roland

Just so you know, Microsoft doesn't support keeping .PST files on a network
share, due to the increased risk of file corruption. Make sure you have a
good, recent backup of your data to fall back on if necessary.
