i have been moving emails from my inbox to archived folders for a while, and
the archives are now large.

I have noticed that my system is slowing down and is "lethargic" and wanted
to know if excessive archived emails can do this?

would saving them and excess folders on an external drive speed up my
system? and if yes, any reccomendatins?

thanks
JB

You might want to ask in an Outlook newsgroup. Here is a list of MS
public newsgroups: http://aumha.org/nntp.htm

Outlook or Outlook Express?
Hi JB, if it's Outlook, do not let your archive or pst files exceed
2gig, otherwise they will go corrupt. If it is Outhouse Distress, do
yourself a favor and stop using it. Find something else for email like
Eudora or Thunderbird (both free).

That was true in versions of Outlook before Outlook 2003. It no longer is.
