What program/version were they created with? How are you trying to access
the files?

Thank you Alan for the prompt reply. Outlook V.2002
1. Imported emails from Outlook express
2. tools/options/other/auto archive
3. wanted to review the archived emails
4. located archive.pst file - right clicked to open - "open with"
5. result was "program not found on this computer"
I have the same issue on my computer at home using Outlook V.2000
Am presuming I am not in the correct area for opening the archive files.
Appreciate your guidance.

Here's your problem. You don't open a PST from Windows Explorer. Start
Outlook and click File>Open>Outlook Data File. Browse to the PST, select
it, and click OK.

Remember that Outlook Express is a totally different program to Outlook, the
names can be thought of as deceptive/misleading, there is *no* relationship
like Outlook Express being a cut down Outlook.

Outlook Express does have an Export option (to Outlook), this is *not* the
same as archiving.

I've never tried what you want to do before but I just tried an export from
OE to Outlook (*not* an archive!)- so easy and straight forward! Open
Outlook Express, File, Export, Messages. Choose Outlook. Wait. Open Outlook
and there they were- no looking for the files, importing or anything else-
automatically in the program.

It seems you should import the archived messages back into OE, and with
Outlook installed on the same computer use Export to Outlook. It doesn't
seem that archived files from what is a totally different program to Outlook
can be handled, and I doubt it would be as easy as the Export function.

Thank you Brian
I followed the instructions given,
two files ARCHIVE and OUTLOOK in Personal Folder File - not specifically
pst, highlighted and clicked OK (on each individually) and obviously the
result was to the Personal Folders.
I will use the same instructions at home and see if I get a different result.
Back in touch tomorrow.
Thanks
Slater (Val)
