Archive pst file overwritten

I have a bit of a dilemma. I have found that Outlook 2003 has been
overwriting its archive.pst file every time archive is run resulting in lost
emails. Does anyone know if this is normal? And if so, is there a procedure
that I can use to avoid this behavior. I was under the impression that the
Outlook should append the archive.pst file.

Thanks in advance

Not normal. Outlook for everyone I know adds to the archive file, not
overwrites it.

If by overwrite you mean the file date is changed, this is a result of items
being appended. Thus the modified date is changed.

Thanks DL,

The problem I have is that the archive.pst is being completely overwritten.
For example, I have an archive.pst file that has 20meg worth of data in it.
The next time autoarchive runs, it leaves behind an archive.pst file with
nothing in it (file size is down under 100k). All of the data that was
contained in the archive.pst is gone. Any ideas?

Never seen such action.
You've searched, to include hidden, for *.pst ?
Youre not archiving over a network?
