Appwiz.cpl Missing from Control Panel

The Add/Remove Programs (Appwiz.cpl) is missing from
Control Panel, and from my machine. Any suggestions on
what to do?
 
No - the appwiz.cpl is in the System32 folder - and I just
pulled it out of the XP disk (expanded) and then ran the
register the cpls again. I clicked on the file itself,
and it does nothing. There is also a "patch" for the
program, KB820291, I applied that and still nothing. I
almost think I need to uninstall and reinstall XP, I don't
want to though, to much stuff to recover.
 
Ok, well then it sounds as though you have it listed under don't load.

Check here: Start/Run/Regedit
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\don't load

If it is listed, delete it.
