Apply total to first line of a query

I have a query that pulls the date, number of hours absence and number of
hours they have made-up.
If the employee missed 2 days the query pull both those days and when the
made-up hours are enter it show the total of hours made-up for both dates.
what I would like to do is have the query apply the made-up hours only to the
first date until all hours have been completed and then apply to the next
date only after the first day is 0. If any more information is need let me
know.

Table structures, usage of the created data(i.e. report, subform, export to
Excel), and SQL string are always good to supply.
