Apply Form Filter button

Hello,

Could somebody please explain to me what Microsoft thought the Apply
Form Filter command button could possibly be good for, considering the
point that it is disabled when viewing the form in filter mode.

It's basically used on unfiltered records giving the user a way to apply
whatever filter tickles his fancy.
