Hi All,

I am trying to get some feedback/input regarding application deployment.

1. What is your favored method of deploying non-OS applications to a large
group of machines?

2. What is the name of a good "graphical package builder", the ones that
create a macro while recording your actions?

Thanks,
Kelly

You'd probably get more useful and focused answers in a developer's
group. This one is for general tech support of the XP operating system.
Here is a list of all the MS newsgroups:

You also might want to see what non-MS developer newsgroups are offered
on public Usenet servers. See if your ISP has an NNTP service for you.

Hi,

As of now, you are only able to deploy msi packages via the native GPSI
within group policies.
There is SMS but that requires another infrastructure other than your
AD infrastructure and also requires more hardware, plus the training to
administer this product.
There are third party tools out there, one being called SpecOps Deploy.
This product utilizes Group Policy which means no added infrastructure,
hardware or training.
If you know Group Policies, you could be deploying software within an
hour through your organization
This product allows you to deploy MSI, MSP, EXE, and legacy packages on
the fly.
It also provides you detailed real time feedback on the deployments,
and undeployments to ease troubleshooting and reporting.
Not including over 15 different target criteria's you can choose from
and customize to allow you the granularity on who/what to deploy
software to which is unavailable from some other products.

Sorry I cannot help you out with your second question
