Hi

I was wondering if anyone could help, I have an issue
with an application on a XP machine (SP1 and latest
updates)

Basically what we have done is

PCs used to log on locally as normal user and not on to a
domain - application worked
PC added to domiain, and we now have problem where user
cannot run application

If you log on as Domain User, the application will not
run.
If you log on as Domain Admins the application will run
IF you log on as Local Admin the application will run.

I have also tried assigning the user local admin rights
and this does not work, but if you create a new local
user and add them to local admins it works if you log on
locally.

Basically domain users dont seem to be able to run this
application only.

Any ideas would be great

Sounds like a profile issue. If you have given the user local admin rights then it can't be permissions can it ??? Have you checked out the name resolution side of things ?

Have you tried creating a new domain account
I would try deleting the users profile – sometimes settings seem to get corrupt in the profile

What application is it …. You need to be more specific

Hi

Thanks for replying we have tried deleting the profile in
the past and it doesnt seem to do anything but I will try
this again.

The software is called HOLOS and is made by Seagate.

Have you tried reinstalling the software logged in as the user with local admin rights ?

Does it give you any error message
We had an issue when we upgraded from 98 to Windows 2000. The application would run perfectly well for a few weeks then it would crash.
If I remember it correctly, it was down to printer driver corruption. When the user was trying to print from the application it was corrupting dll's
In the end we deleted all the printers, un-installed Holos. Re-installed Holos then the new drivers and all seems O

I wouldn't delete the profile, this didn't work and then we had to recreate i

What version of Holos are you usin
I believe Windows GUI V7.0C1 32 bit has issues with Windows XP

Hi

We are using version v7.01C as you mentioned

Do you know if there any fixes available for this

Ken

It does not give a message - basically what happens is we
double click on the holos icon it starts up and you
select connect to holos, and instead of progressing to
the logon screen for holos it basically kicks you out of
the program

i will try uninstalling the application again and see
what happens and then maybe the printers and the software
